Since late spring 2014, we are discussing the possibility to measure the production of beauty hadrons via the partial reconstruction of their secondary decay vertices. This efforts aims at a very pure selection of beauty decays while rejecting very efficiently the charm contribution to the single electron spectrum. The hope is to extend the beauty spectrum to lower pT (currently limited by the lower limit of the D meson measurement in ALICE).
- The idea is presented and discussed in my slides here
- A feasibility study was done by Sebastian Hornung in his bachelor thesis (Uni Heidelberg). The thesis can be found on this page.
